Every BCCO candle will have a Caution label on the base, please read. Due to size, most of our candles are safe (and recommended) to burn for 3-4 hours each time. However, any candle from our "Small Collection" (10-29 ounces), should not be burned longer than 2-3 hours.
It is important to keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch to ensure even burning and prevent the flame from becoming too large, and discontinue use when there is half an inch of wax remaining. It is unsafe to burn your candle beyond this point and could pose a fire hazard.
In the event of fire, use a fire extinguisher if able or get yourself to safety and call 911.
5 Simple Rules for Candle Safety
Don't walk away
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
Secure the area
Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper and flammable decorations. Keep your hair and loose clothing away from the flame.
Keep from kids & pets
Make sure children and pets cannot reach burning candles. Do not place lit candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets, or anyone else.
Avoid drafts & vents
Avoid drafts, vents or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, sooting and excessive dripping.
Don't touch or move
Never touch or move candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquified.
